Contact Us FAQ
As Australia’s first ‘on-line only/virtual’ political party, we are run a little differently!
We
have no money, no resources and are run by a small band of volunteers
who all try to hold down full time jobs! Contrary to popular
belief we are not backed by big business (gee, wish we were) and pretty
much have zip money to do anything. We get lots of requests that
are often quite similar in nature, so to save your time and ours below
is a list of answers to the ‘FAQs’ that we receive. If you send
us a question or comment that is covered by one of these then we
probably will not even respond to your email. We are not being
rude, we really just don’t have time!
Q - Can we speak to/interview the party leader? Unfortunately
he’s really shy and hates talking to people, so we just leave him
quivering in a corner hoping the phone never rings. Speaking to media
or the like, forget it!
Q- Can you send somebody to speak at our event? Same answer as above. Truth is, we don’t have anybody available!
Q - Abuse/We hate you type stuff Unsurprisingly
we get lots of this and there is probably nothing you can say that we
have not heard before, so save yourself the time. You are
entitled to your opinion, so are we, as indeed are the majority of
South East Queenslanders who want daylight saving.
Q - Can you send information about daylight saving There is this great interwebby thing called Google – try there.
Q - Please send me posters/banners etc. Sorry, we don’t have any, and no money to make any more!
Q - I would like to be considered as a Candidate
Please go to our Candidate Enquiry page.
Q - I cannot give money but can volunteer other help/assistance Thanks
for the offer, but we really are so resource strapped it’s difficult
for us to manage and co-ordinate these kinds of offers. The two
forms of help we really need are for people to be candidates and cash to stop us sinking without trace!
Q - I have this great idea you can use to promote DLS Love
to see it, but limited time and resources mean that we really have
to stick very closely to a carefully defined and planned strategy.
Q - In an election I want to know where your preferences will go? We
love this question as is reveals a common misunderstanding about how
optional preferential voting actually works. Fact is they are not 'our
preferences' to give! Each voter sets out their own preferences
on their own ballot paper, we have no direct control over that, and
neither does any other political party. When you hear in the news that
political parties have done 'preference deals' all it actually means is
they have agreed to put the other party on their suggested 'how to
vote' flyer as part of some deal. We suggest you take the time to
understand how optional preferential voting really works - check out the ECQ website stuff on OPV.
Q - As a QLD political party, what’s your policy on ……. We are a single issue party with a single policy; we make no comment on anything else.
Q - As a QLD political party can you help us advocate ……. Er, no chance!
Q - I would like to give you lots of money. Ooooo, yes please. If it’s more than our little old donations page
can handle, then used notes in brown paper bags are the preferred form
of payment, email us and we can arrange which car park to meet in.
Q
- My name is Anna Bligh/Campbell Newman and I have just realised that
you are totally right about Daylight Saving in South East Queensland. OK, we may just respond to you on that!
